Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, estimating, negotiating, and closing business relationships.
- The Business Developer is responsible for creating opportunities to bid for new commercial maintenance and snow sales, accurately estimating, and closing an acceptable number of those bids.
- Identify, qualify, and secure business opportunities by cultivating and maintaining mutually beneficial business relationships with current and potential clients.
- Works closely with sales/operations leadership in all aspects of winning, retaining, and growing accounts.
- Actively research potential clients and pursue new business relationships.
- Prepares customized proposal to the targeted customer and presents to “C” level and/or decision makers to close the sale.
- Develop pursuit materials, regularly present at industry exhibits, trade shows, conferences, and local B2B networking events.
- Maintain existing business relationships through continuous client follow up, responding to client inquiries and resolving problems on their behalf.
- Maintain a short term and long-term business development plan monthly.
- Keep current with trends by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
- Generates potential business deals by contacting lead partners, discovering, and exploring opportunities.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing, and negotiating contracts, integrating contract requirements with operations.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (i.e. agronomic and horticultural technical training); reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for key account accomplishments and new and different requests’ exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of new business development experience with experience cultivating new professional relationships and dealing with long sales cycles
- Proven ability to acquire new contract sales in excess of $50k.
- Ability to work independently and to help establish and meet sales goals.
- Proven ability to develop leads and network with industry professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree (in a business field) preferred or combination of education and experience.
- Commercial landscaping and snow sales preferred.
- Proficiency with computer software programs including MS Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); experience with a CRM tool is beneficial.
- Strong multitasking skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Local knowledge and contacts in one or more market segments preferred
- Landscape and snow maintenance: 2 – 3 years (Preferred)
Pay: $50,000 – $100,000 (includes salary, bonus pay, and commission pay)
